Low Friction Coatings

Dymon-iC™ DLC coating
Dymon-iC™ is a diamond-like carbon, DLC coating that offers exceptional tribological properties in comparison to conventional DLC coatings. The coating is deposited using a hybrid PVD / PACVD (plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition) process.

Low friction DLC coating
The friction coefficient of the Dymon-iC™ DLC coating varies between 0.03 and 0.1 depending upon the load and operating conditions.

Wear resistant DLC coating
The Dymon-iC™ DLC coating has a sliding wear coefficient of between 4×10-17 m3 N-1 m-1 and 9.8×10-18 m3 N-1 m-1 depending on the contact area and the applied load.

A unique DLC coating able to sustain high contact pressures
The unique property of the Dymon-iC™ DLC coating in comparison to other DLC coatings is the ability to to sustain contact pressures in excess of 3GPa. This amazing property makes this DLC coating the only choice for industrially relevant tribological applications.

Dymon-iC™ DLC coating applications
The Dymon-iC™ DLC coating is currently used for many applications including

• dies and die blocks (including CD dies)
• tapping, reaming, drilling
• electronics industry - assembly applications
• automotive applications particularly motorsport - protection of sliding components and the reduction of energy losses due to friction learn more >
• decorative applications
• moulding, punching
• reduction of pick up and galling with soft materials (Al, Cu, Ti)
